Vivimos en Cusco!

Hi guys!

We made it and we love it! We had no troubles traveling...the layover in Lima was a little rough but I was able to sleep as Nick kept watch. The flight from Lima to Cusco was beautiful! The sun was rising and the peaks of the Andes popped out through the clouds...The pictures don't do justice. We arrived in Cusco and were welcomed by a Peruvian band! After we found our luggage, caught our breath and made it outside we were greeted by a member of the program team. We took a cab into the city, which was an interesting ride. We tried to take in all the sites... stray dogs everywhere.. little wrinklie cute Peruvian women carrying loads of food on their backs. As we weaved in and out of traffic and dodged people we made it to the program headquarters. We enjoyed a little coca tea while we were introduced to some staff and the different areas in the building. Exhausted, we finally were able to go to our house and unpack. The house is amazing! more amazing than either of us expected... There are 3 staff here all the time that cook amazing meals and clean the house, we have our own bedroom, and we have some great housemates! There are about 9 other volunteers in the house from all over the US and some from England and Australia!


We went to the Plaza del Armas yesterday and explored a little. We were hassled by the cutest little boys trying to sell us rocks and hats... we ended up buying two hats... and then Nick was pick-pocketed by one of the boys! Of course, the little boy thought this was hilarious and then asked for more money in order for us to get the money he stole back (smart kid)... we almost had to tickle him to get the money back.

I was not feeling well yesterday at all from that altitude, I had a horrible headache felt really winded. Nick felt grrrrreat! We took it easy and went to bed early!

Today is a new day and we are excited to go explore!
